THE club open day at Helensburgh Bowling Club was a great success for bowlers of all ages.

As well as the ever-popular target bowls a facility was available for people who had never played the game before to find out more about it. Inside the club there were cream teas as well as baking, tombola, jewellery, books and candle stalls which were well supported throughout the day.

In the club grounds a facility was available for the children and younger people which included golf, putting, bowls, knocking cans and other objects off with a water pistol.

The club at the end of the day benefited by raising a significant sum of money, thanks to the efforts of the ladies and gents members who gave of their time.

The initiative to attract new people into the game was rewarding indeed in that by the end of the day applications for new memberships had been submitted.
