The gentlemen members of Helensburgh Golf Club in the June Qualifier for the Ormond Medal enjoyed glorious conditions with the competition standard scratch Score remaining at the standard 69. Graeme Proud lead the way with an excellent 65, four under the standard scratch score playing off a handicap of seven subsequently reduced as a result of this performance by one stroke. In second class, Calum Kennedy demonstrated the benefits of his regular practice and consistent performances with two halves in his 67 off 16. In third class Colin Reid, playing off 22, returned a 66 as did Dereck West who also, playing off 22, promised much more with a gross outward half of 41 but he fell away somewhat on the return half. In the annual encounter of the captain against the vice captain three pairs returned the winning total of 46 points, John Fraser/Peter Mundie, George Cairns/Andrew Dunwoodie and Phil English/Jim McKenzie. As to the overall result neither the captain nor the vice captain have claimed or conceded victory.

Helensburgh ladies had their second Championship Qualifying Competition. In the Silver Division, Gemma Canham with a solid 78 playing off 12 lead the way with Linda Moffat an 11 handicapper runner up by virtue of the better inward half. Lady Captain Babs Robertson was third with a nett 81.

In the Bronze Division Margo Lamb carded an excellent 73, a result of an outstanding inward half. In second place with a score of 78 was Audrey Graham who edged out Grace Martin with a similar nett score but a poorer inward half.
