This is a competition designed to introduce the younger swimmers to competitive swimming.

The youngsters did the club proud with many of the swimmers competing for the first time in an external competition and they did not let their nerves get the better of them, performing well on the day.

The swimmers were up against Ren 96 and Scotia, two much larger clubs and the hosts Clydebank.

Helensburgh finished in a respectable third place behind Ren 96 and Scotia.

The Burgh team approached the races with enthusiasm and determination, as points are awarded for each race.

The points are then tallied up at the end of the day to determine the winning team.

The swimmers were encouraged by their Mini League captains Jodie Kennan-McCue and Alexander Johnson.

The swimmers that participated in the event were Catriona Stewart, Fabio Giarchi, Kirsty Trail, William Fitzgerald, Jenny Dougan, Katy Gardiner-March, Lucy Gardiner-March, Peter Swigciski, Alistair McCartney, Angus Gilmour, Mikey Miller, Eilidh McQueen, Eva Greig, Rebekah Jackson, Joel Miller, Connor McKillop, Callum Adam and Ross Campbell.

There were some nail biting finishes with great personal best times worthy of mention from Eva Greig who took 6.81 seconds off in the 50m freestyle, 5.57 seconds off for William Fitzgerald in 25m butterfly, 7.04 seconds off for Mikey Miller in the 25m breaststroke and 14.15 seconds off for Ross Campbell in the 100m back stroke.

This was testament to all the hard work the swimmers had put in at training sessions and the dedication of the coaches who have been preparing the swimmers over the last few months.

The club would like to thank all the parents that came out to support the swimmers and cheer them on.

The swimmers are looking forward to the next round of the competition which takes place in Kilmarnock.
