A solid 18-4 quarter final victory showcased the side’s hard work and high levels of training in the competitive matches. Their win saw Hannah White put in a very promising performance and Georgina Jackson Leach show off her feisty while Kirsty Aitchison starred as goalkeeper.

Together with their team mates, the win set up a semi-final match against Holyrood High School, who knocked out Hermitage Academy to secure their place in the semi.

Holyrood fought hard and were a well organised and skilful team, but were repeatedly foiled in defence by Nadiyah Hassan and Rosie Green, whose close man to man marking in the circle frustrated the Holyrood shooters.

With support from Molly Keating they kept the goals to 10.

Charlotte Caskie and Grace Laverty combined throughout mid-court and into attack to feed the on-form Cara Cawley and Cara Malcolm to set up some accurate long range shooting which, at full time, totalled 22 goals and set the S1s roaring into the final.

The Lomond girls then faced Robert Gordon’s College in the final of their section on April 1.

The match was end-to-end with both defences playing a major part in the match. There were never more than a couple of goals between the teams and, at the end of normal time, the teams were level.

The pressure of this for a young team was immense, but they more than rose to the challenge. There were great individual performances with Molly Keating, raising her game beyond all expectations in extra time, and Rosie Green, closing down almost every attack by RGC.

Grace Laverty and Charlotte Caskie used their game intelligence to begin to dictate the pace of the game and reduce any frantic play from Lomond.

Despite the looming prospect of sudden death, the positive attitude and determination from Cara Cawley in attack meant that Lomond still made chances and Cara Malcolm held her nerve to shoot the winning goal.

Lomond finished champions by 11 goals to 10, putting the icing on a fantastic season for Lomond School netball and underlining the effort from every player from first to sixth year throughout the season.
