The format this year was slightly different in that all A and B teams compete against one another.

Last year was Argyll and Bute’s first season competing at the district events and so they played against all of the other districts B teams.

The squad were set to face Glasgow A, Inverclyde, Borders B and South Lanarkshire B, in this first day of competition.

They got off to a flying start with a confident 11-6 win over Glasgow A.

This set the squad up for the remainder of their games as they finished the day undefeated with the scores being: Inverclyde (15-10), Borders B (9-1) and South Lanarkshire B (11-3).

The success of the day is definitely a testament to the hard work and dedication that each and every player within the squad has shown to their netball training.

The next play day is on Sunday, November 16 in East Kilbride when the squad will face Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire A and Renfrewshire A.

The squad for the South Academy day of the season was as follows: Abbie Murray (u13), Anne Young, Eilidh McNaughton (Dunoon), Eleanor Young, Grace Laverty, Kate Addo, Lindsay Cormack, Lydia Porter-Smith, Mackenzie Serpell, Mhairi Cromar, Rachel McAuley (u13) and Rachel Moore
