Reid, named Tennis Scotland’s International Player of the Year last week during another fine season for the British No. 1, partnered Frenchman Michael Jeremiasz in Mission Viejo, the second seeds advancing to Saturday semi-finals after finishing top of their round-robin pool of four combinations.

Reid and Jeremiasz beat British duo Marc McCarroll and David Phillipson 6-3, 6-1 in their opening match before defeating Roland Garros Grand Slam finalists Gustavo Fernandez and Nicolas Peifer 6-0, 3-6, 6-2 in their second match of the week.

Undefeated in their pool, Reid and Jeremiasz went on to overcome Japan Open champions Shingo Kunieda and Evans Maripa 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 in the semi-finals as Reid moved into his second successive Doubles Masters final, having partnered Stephane Houdet of France to lift the title in California in November last year.

Reid and Jeremiasz kept pace with top seeds and Roland Garros champions Joachim Gerard and Houdet for the first eight games of Sunday’s final, but Gerard and Houdet went on to eventually claim a deserved victory 6-4, 6-1.

Reid said: “Obviously it’s disappointing to lose in any major final, but after winning the title with Stephane last year I know that he and Jo are having a brilliant season and they were just too good for us today.

“We have lived up to our seeding and continued our record of reaching the final of every tournament we have played. That’s now six finals from six tournaments, including three titles. I’m now looking forward to preparing for the Nottingham Indoors and the NEC Masters on home soil.” Reid will be out to try and defend his men’s singles title at next week’s ITF 1 Series Nottingham Indoor before lining up alongside the world’s seven other top eight ranked singles players, including Gerard, Houdet, Fernandez and Peifer, at the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters.
