Despite the grey looking conditions the day went down a smash as they battled it out for the titles.

Many of the finalists have been competing throughout the summer in junior league matches and came armed with tactics and good fighting spirit.

Even though the rain was lashing down, there was no chance that the weather would put a halt to the championship proceedings.

Under-14 boys singles Fraser Muir v Max Carmichael Winner: Fraser Muir — 6-0 The boys U14 finals had been completed the week before between Fraser Muir and Max Carmichael.

The match was won convincingly by Fraser 6-0. The match produced some excellent rallies with both players pleased with their respective performances.

Under-14 boys doubles Nicol Gray/Patrick Moy v Fraser Muir/Callum Glen Winners: Fraser Muir and Callum Glen — 6-1 On finals day, Fraser — fresh from his singles win the week before — teamed up with Callum Glen, to take on the youthful pairing of Nicol Gray and Patrick Moyin the doubles final.

The younger pair battled on throughout but couldn’t quite match the strong opposition of Fraser and Callum who won the match 6-1.

Under-14 girls singles Mia Rooney v Olivia Mates Winner: Mia Mates — 6-0 In the under-14 girls singles finals, Mia Rooney took on Olivia Mates at Cardross Tennis Club.

This was a friendly match in which Olivia fought hard for all her points but Mia’s strength and experience shone through to take her to a 6-0 win.

Under-14 girls doubles Mia Rooney/Olivia Mates v Fiona Porter/Rachael Hogg Winners: Mia Rooney and Olivia Mates — 6-3 Mia and Olivia joined forces to take on Fiona Porter and Rachael Hogg in the under-14 girls doubles.

This was another good-natured match. There were plenty of good rallies throughout the games with winning shots from both sides. Mia and Olivia proved the stronger pair, overcoming Fiona and Rachael 6-3.

Under- 18 boys singles Max McKay v Jamie Porter Winner: Max McKay — 6-3, 6-7. 6-4 The match of the day was the epic under-18 boys singles match between Max McKay and Jamie Porter. Driving power shots and clever tactics were on display throughout the match.

In the first set, Jamie quickly took the lead but Max found his composure to break forward and take the first set 6-3.

The second set was equally thrilling with Jamie maintaining a cool head to win the second set on a tie-break.

The battle continued throughout the third set but Max edged through to finally take the final set and the match.

Under-18 boys doubles Jamie Porter/Mark Sullivan v Dylan Brown/Callum Glen Winners: Dylan Brown and Callum Glen — 6-3 6-2 Jamie then leapt into his second final of the day.

This turned out to be lively match under the damp grey skies. In the end Dylan Brown and Callum Glen dominated the net as they have been taught — and ran out 6-3 6-2 winners over Jamie Porter and Mark Sullivan to lift the trophy.
