The side faced Glasgow Flames, who they had beaten by a narrow margin earlier in the campaign. A shake up of the squads at HNC saw the firsts welcome Katherine Walker, Nicola McMahon and Kirsten Bruce to the top team. With Steph Hart being the only injury worry, it was a relief for those associated with HNC to see a strong squad in terms of numbers and talent.

HNC started with a familiar line up, the only debutant in the starting line up being Kirsten Bruce in WA.

In the first quarter the team held their own despite some unnecessary errors and finished three ahead.

Rhonda Philips at GD was substituted at quarter time, with Sally Ram moving to GD and Nicola McMahon taking up her vacant WD position.

Together with Iona Hamilton in GK they began to make some crucial interceptions that kept them in the game at half time, despite some strong shooting from the opposition GA.

In the third quarter Alyson Ayton took a well earned rest from C, moving to WA with Katherine Walker taking up the key position of centre.

Despite her youth she bossed the mid court quietly and linked exceptionally well with her attackers to maintain the three goal lead.

Lou Mundie GA worked tirelessly all night in the shooting circle alongside Alison Ross GS. Together they calmly converted the chances that came their way and remained unflummoxed in the tightly contested match.

This experience alongside the fitness of the mid court and the fight of HNC defence, which saw Rhonda Philips return with aplomb in the final quarter and re-stake her claim for her position, helped HNC 1 to extend their lead and win convincingly 52-37.

The outstanding performance of the night was recently promoted Nicola McMahon WD and her admirable timing and determination saw her win many interceptions as well as the player of the match accolade.
