The 23-year-old successfully defended his 2014 title by beating Olsson 7-5, 6-1.

Reid’s victory continues the world number three’s impressive start to 2015, which has seen him win three doubles titles.

Two with fellow Brit Alfie Hewett in Brisbane and Melbourne and most recently alongside Frenchman Stéphane Houdet in Rotterdam.

At the ITF 2 tournament in Bolton, Reid was in imperious form. He dropped only one set on his way to the final and despatched former world number one Michael Jeremiasz 6-0, 6-0 in the semi-finals.

After a tight first set against Olsson in the final he powered away to a confident win.

In the men’s doubles Reid partnered fellow Brit Dave Phillipson to reach the final.

However they lost out to France’s Michael Jeremiasz and Olsson, 6-2, 6-1.

Speaking after his singles victory, Reid said: “It feels great to come to Bolton again this year and retain my singles title from 2014.

“Once again the organisers here have done a great job organising a world class event I’ve enjoyed my week.

“I’m happy with the performances I put in throughout the week and hope to carry the momentum from those positives performances forward into my next events in the USA next month.” Reid was one of 17 players on the Tennis Foundation’s wheelchair tennis performance programme who competed in Bolton.

Over 60 players from 13 countries lined up at the event. The ITF 2 Series USN Bolton Arena Indoor, one of nine world ranking events in Britain last season and again this year, was voted Tournament of the Year in the British Wheelchair Tennis Awards for 2014 after a highly impressive inaugural event in 2014.
