World Cup stars Dave Ryding and Alex Tilley graced the slopes of Tignes last week – and Kick proved he could well follow in their footsteps.

The 18-year-old bagged a pair of British Junior Championships bronzes, topping and tailing his week with success in the Super-G and Giant Slalom.

The latter was made all the more impressive after picking up a slight leg injury during the course of the week, which he first felt during the National Championships Giant Slalom race on Thursday.

But the teenager admits he must start to deliver in the Slalom after a set of disappointing results during the course of this season.

“I skied the top part and the middle part of the GS in the National Championships quite well, I just crashed on the third to last gate, which I didn’t really think about straight away and it’s just a waste of a result,” he explained.

“I hurt my leg, I’ve hurt around the top of my boot. Down the course it was a little sore and adrenalin took the pain away.

“I’m definitely skiing a lot better this year, but consistency has been a killer in Slalom and straddling is just totally ruining anything I’ve got going.

“In GS I’ve got some things going and I’m quite happy to get two results in Super-G that are way better than what I’ve had in the past.” Following the success of the Great Britain team at Sochi 2014 and with the support of Snowsport England’s national participation campaign GO SKI GO BOARD, it has been a tremendous year for British winter sports.

GO SKI GO BOARD started in September 2013 and more than 40,000 new people had taken at least one taster or coaching session through the campaign by the end of last year.

And the season isn’t over just yet for Kick, who says he leaves Tignes buoyed by his trips to the podium.

“The podiums are what count in the NJCs and I’m pleased to come away with another over the weekend,” added the Hermitage Academy student.

“Next up are the Belgium Champs and I want to do some Super-G, depending on what the coaches say.” As Principal Sponsor of British Ski and Snowboard, Delancey is proud to be able to provide British Athletes with the support and training they require to continue to be a real force in winter sports on a world stage.
