It took the G84 side, nicknamed Pressure, some time to find their feet with some unforced errors allowing Newtonhill to win possession and capitalise.

However, Pressure showed their dominance and began to pull away in the closing minutes of the first quarter. Abbie Murray (GS) and Eleanor Young (GA) linked well in the attacking circle with an 89% shooting average between them in the quarter. First quarter ended 10-3 to Pressure.

The second quarter saw a change at both ends of the court with Rachel Moore on to play GS and Lydia Porter-Smith to GK.

Pressure continued to dominate their opposition allowing them only two goals. Mhairi Cromar was relentless in the centre position and was able to restrict her opponent and disrupt the Newtonhill attack. The half time score was 20-5 to Pressure.

Pressure’s defence worked tirelessly again in the third quarter dominating their end of the court with Newtonhill only able to take two goals in this period. Mackenzie Serpell was constantly pressurising her opponents’ pass and in doing so won numerous tips of the ball. Rona Wilson had an outstanding quarter in GD and worked hard at holding onto the ball to ensure a smooth transition up to the shooters. The score at third quarter time 28-7 to Pressure.

A few changes were made in the fourth quarter with Eleanor Young back to GS, Abbie Murray to GA and Anne Young to GD. Again Pressure rose to the challenge, not allowing Newtonhill to score any goals in the final quarter. The final score was 39-7 to Pressure.

Coaches’ player of the match went to both Eleanor Young and Mhairi Cromar. Eleanor for her speed and determination in the attacking circle and Mhairi for playing a key role in disrupting the Newtonhill attack.
