HERMITAGE Academy held its very first “Hermitage Does Sport” awards night on June 18.

The event was organised to celebrate sporting success, as well as participation throughout the school in a wide variety of sports. Invited guests included Murdo MacLeod, Euan Kick (GB skier) and Callum Duke (Scottish hockey player).

The night was a great success with over 250 parents and pupils attending. On the night there was a sport-related musical performance by the brass band, conducted by director and music teacher Miss Collins.

Over the night pupils’ success was recognised, such as the under-15 football team winning the Glasgow Football League, the S3 netball team getting to the Silver Scottish cup semi-final and the under-18 football team winning the Cameronian Cup.

Photos, produced by Mr Paterson from the Chemistry Department, were presented to pupils while parents were treated to a video presentation for each team which was created by S1 pupil Alexander Grant. The night was ended by celebrating the retirement of current Principal Teacher of PE, Mr MacDonald.
