LOMOND School's U18 rugby side endured a difficult afternoon when they travelled to Queen Victoria School, Dunblane last weekend.

Lomond were met with tough competition from a well drilled QVS team.

Defensive errors lead to three early tries from the home side. The remainder of the first half was all Lomond, with aggressive tackling from Rob Thornton and strong running from Ben Chown.

In the second half Lomond struggled to maintain the high pressure game of the first half and let in an early try.

Lomond replied well with two trys through Craig Calderwood, converted by Calum Caskie and Ben Chown.

The final score was 42-16 for QVS.

The under 16's also travelled to QVS, but a strong running QVS pack dominated the first half scoring four tries to no reply.

In the second half a better organised Lomond defence led to QVS errors and two well worked trys from Nick Fish.

The final score was 36-10 for QVS.

The S2 team played at home and put in an excellent performance to beat QVS by 11-3. A high pressing defensive line and efficient movement of the ball in open play led to a well-constructed win.

Trys came from Nicol, Eoghan and Callum with further extras from Tommy and Nicol.

Lomond Transitus rugby team travelled away with a weakened team to face QVS. Although Lomond showed some great promise in different areas the final score was a 10-0 defeat.

A special mention should go to Rhys, Joshua and Oliver for playing very well in their debut match.

Magnus showed great flare when running with the ball as did Findlay. As captain, Andrew took control of his team effectively and Ewan scored a great individual try in the mixed exhibition match after the main game.
