Touch rugby fun
HELENSBURGH Rugby Club's inaugural Touch League got off to a flying start on Friday June 18 when over 70 men, women and children took part in the fun-filled competition.
The competing teams were as follow - Black by Popular Demand, Some Team, Tullochan Tigers, Rhu Inn Barbarians, Netball Lions, Granite Warriors, Loch Lomond, Rhu Ravers, Black's Sheep and BIO.
Touch Rugby is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world and under the watchful eye of local SRU rugby development officer, Tyrone Sterry, dozens of people - from as far afield as Rhu and Tullichewan - gathered at a sun-kissed Ardencaple to kick off the League.
Organiser Chris Black said: "This was the first of four Friday night league matches and we couldn't have asked for a better start.
"Each team had to have at least one female and one youth in their team, but in reality, most of the older players just let the girls and boys get on with it and it was excellent to see such skills on show.
"The results for each team from Friday are carried forward to the next meeting on Friday July 2 at 6.45pm, and the league winners will be announced after all four nights have taken place."
It's not too late to register a team, which must have no more than 10 players including females and youths. Please contact Chris Black on 07877 176125 for more details.
