The Greens fell to a narrow loss on Saturday against Newton Stewart, however, the match was just the team’s third game of 2014 and Rogers feels a consistent run of games will ensure the team returns to their best and will help them to push up the table. Rogers said: “When we played against Lenzie a couple of weeks ago we were a bit rusty — it was only our second game of 2014 but now the weather is improving we should get a run of games and build up some momentum which can only go in our favour.

“Everyone has been working on their fitness but that can never prepare you for proper games but now we are all back playing together we should be able to build and pick up more points and hopefully take the season forward.

“Once we get back into the routine of playing rugby together on a Saturday and get back into all the little things that you used to do before games we will get back to wining.

“We believe that promotion is definitely within our sights.” And that charge up the league will be helped by the fact that four of Helensburgh’s next five matches are due to be played at Ardencaple where the Greens are undefeated all season.

Rogers added: “We have got enough home games left and we don’t see why we cant pick up four or maybe five points from each of those games.

“We are not doing too well away but we have nearly got all our away games out the way.

“We have Irvine, Kilmarnock, GHK still to play at home so there are games that we are confident we can get four, maybe five points from.

“The last time we played at home was back in December so it will be good to get back to the Burgh crowd.

“Obviously we need to do well at home and away but the bonus points that we can pick up at home gives you that bit more advantage which can hopefully work in our favour.”
