The Ardencaple side fell to their second successive defeat in as many weeks and Clipston’s weekend went from bad to worse as he suffered a season ending broken finger during the defeat. However, he stressed it won’t end his involvement and he is keen to support the team between now and the end of the season.

He said: “Unfortunately I picked up an injury during the game so it was a bad weekend all round.

“I’ve had to go to hospital to get it all taped up but I will be out for at least six to eight weeks so my season is ultimately over which is disappointing.

“But, I’ll still be along at the weekend shouting the boys on from the stands.” Clipston believes that Bill McDonald’s side needs to cut out silly mistakes that have cost them penalties in the previous two encounters.

“Without making excuses, Clipston admitted that it is just down to lack of practice and it is something the side needs to work upon on the training field.

He continued: “The penalties are a problem the squad have had for a few weeks now. We are not playing the referee as well as we should be and as a result we have been punished in both matches.

“It is a case of getting the squad together and discussing the issue and working hard on it when they go into training.

“It is costing the side some crucial points at crucial times so hopefully we can cut it out and finish the season on a high.” Despite some heavy defeats Clipston believes the morale around the team is at a high level and believes it has helped form a strong squad capable of challenging, adding: “This team has one of the strongest bonds I have experienced.

“I have been part of a number of teams but this one has got the strongest bond between the players and coaches.

“There was a sense of disappointment between the players after Saturday but we are strong enough to dust ourselves down and get back to some good form.”
