The youngsters stepped out in front of 5,000 fans at half time to play in the final of the Glasgow Warriors Sevens tournament at half time of the Pro12 match, after battling through two matches before kick-off to reach the final.

With two pools of teams from across Scotland competing to play in the final on the pitch at half time, the intensity of the matches was fast and furious as both sides looked to make their mark.

Helensburgh’s running rugby shone through in their first game against Hillhead/Jordanhill, with excellent attacking formations and passing leading to early tries for Nick Fish and Adam Scott.

Another two tries from the pair rendered a Hills’ try meaningless as some solid defence from Helensburgh proved stubborn enough to hold their opposition at bay.

Burgh then faced off against an impressive Falkirk two side. After an even opening Helensburgh won a turnover and released their backs for Adam Scott to score out wide.

Straight from the restart Burgh doubled their lead following another turnover.

However, Falkirk weren’t about to collapse and pulled a try back, only for Scott to grab his third try of the game and end the tie as a contest at 3-1 and despite a late try from Falkirk, Burgh booked their place in the final.

Burgh faced Falkirk one, winners of the other pool, in the final.

The floodlights did nothing to deter Burgh as they took the game to their larger opposition.

The full sized pitch was an eye-opener for both sides before Adam Scott scored once again to hand Burgh the lead but two pieces of individual skill put the strong Falkirk side ahead.

An equalising try gave Burgh hope but with the game entering its final minute a quick break from the Falkirk player proved to be the difference as he managed to crash through two tackles before scoring in the far corner as the ref blew for full time, to hand Falkirk the win.
