LOMOND AND HELENSBURGH RUGBY S1 Report: A weakened S1 squad with only 11 players competed well against a good, well organised and hard tackling Linlithgow team but, ultimately, came out second best. It was also obvious that the L and H boys hadn’t played for some weeks as they seemed very tentative in their tackling and rucking. Good running with ball in hand, however, from David Rownie, Cameron Murray and Glen Cullen set up tries for Murray and Connor McBean but it was never going to be enough. The Linlithgow boys were much livelier and quicker to react near the contact zone. They kept the ball alive extremely well and their support players had obviously worked hard at coming round the corners looking for offloads and then passing effectively down the line away from breakdown areas. Quite simply they were too quick and smart for us on the day. Final score was 34-7 to the West Lothian team.

Under-16s: The under-16s travelled away to Belmont House School, and put pressure on the Belmont team right from the off with a first half hat trick from Robbie Kennedy and a good score from Cameron McDougal. The story was much the same in the second half, with Robbie adding another try to his tally, and Callum Alcorn and Matthew Holland got their names on the score sheet. The game finished 41-0 to Lomond Helensburgh.

Under-18s: The under-18s faced Linlithgow at home for the second time this season, and looked to exact revenge after losing heavily away from home in the previous fixture. The game started strong for the Lomond/Helensburgh side, as Jamie Higgins finished off a forwards move under the posts, and the try was consequently converted by Kyle Stevenson. Linlithgow were quick to reply, with two unconverted tries towards the end of the half. In the second half, Lomond Helensburgh dominated the play for large durations of the game, which led to Kyle Stevenson adding a further three points to the score board to level the game. However, from the consequent kick off, Linlithgow went down the other end and the last try of the game. The final score was 15-10.
