Shandon’s Anna Burnet and Helensburgh’s Charlotte Dobson are on the medal trail at the 2017 European Sailing Championships in Kiel, Germany this week.

The pair are representing Great Britain and are facing some of Europe’s top sailors in their respective classifications.

With the competition just shy of the halfway stage as The Advertiser goes to press, both are in with a great chance of reaching the podium.

The former Lomond School pupil and teammate John Gimson are leading the way in first place after six of the 14 races in the Nacra 17 event.

They have recovered brilliantly after a near disastrous setback on the first day of competition.

The duo’s boat became hooked to the start buoy and it took five minutes to be freed and get their race under way.

Meanwhile 2016 Olympian Charlotte Dobson, sailing alongside Saskia Tidey in the 49erFX event, have raced into fourth place after 10 races out of 22.
