It will be held at Quingdao, the sailing venue for the Beijing Olympics next year and Charlotte was selected after an excellent performance at the ISAF Sailing World Championships, which finished last weekend at Cascais, Portugal.
More then 1,700 sailors competed in each of the Olympic classes, with Charlotte competing in the Laser Radial class, the women"s single person dinghy for the 2008 Olympics.
In a series of nine races taking place in weather ranging from light and shifty to howling gales, Charlotte had just two results outside the top 10, going into the final medal race in 7th position.
An untimely capsize resulted in her finishing 9th in this crucial race, in 10th place overall, but the Royal Northern and Clyde Yacht Club member was still the leading British competitor.
This in combination with her run of successes throughout the 2007 season so far, was enough to clinch her position in the British team to compete in China.
A good result at the Quingdao Olympic sailing centre at the test event between August 9 and 24 will greatly boost Charlotte"s chances of selection for the 2008 Olympics.
Chairman of the Olympic Selection Committee, Chris Atkins, said: 'We have a strong squad of dedicated sailors and are looking forward to the challenge of repeating this success in Qingdao.'
