The Allander Jazz Band is performing in Helensburgh Parish Church this weekend.
The band formed in the mid-1980s and all of the founding members, excluding one, are now retired giving them extra time to enjoy and practice their happy, foot-tapping music.
Jeannie, also known as ‘Red Hot Momma’, is the latest member to join the band.
She came out of musical retirement five years ago to join the group of Dixieland enthusiasts in the band.
A well-known character in the jazz scene, Jeannie has sung in various bands across Scotland, including the West Coast Jazz Band and her own band, the Jazzwegians.
The band do a range of charity work including performances to raise funds for Lomond and Clyde Community Orchestra and Westerton Parish Church.
And if they aren’t rehearsing together or raising money for a good cause, the band can be found performing at birthday parties and dinner dances.
The event starts at 7.30pm this Saturday, February 24. Tickets cost £8, include a light supper, and can be bought from Helensburgh Parish Church Office.
