LOMOND School treated a spellbound audience to a night of jigs, ballads, waltzes, reels, jazz and accoustic rock and pop at their recent Folk Concerts. The double extravaganza, held on March 15 and 16, got off to a flier with S2 girls Ella Keating, Sally Ram, Katie Holborn, Jessica Bruce, Annie Muggoch and Jodie Smith performing The Dixie Chicks' 'Landslide' and The Bangles' 'Eternal Flame'. Shannon Kemp from S4 followed with a set of traditional foot-tapping tunes on the accordion. Shannon then joined Megan Hastings (flute), Katherine Bull (cello), Lois Mclatchie (violin) and Kirsty Savage (clarsach) for two sets.

The first half consisted of marches and jigs, the second half two waltzes.

Next up were the S2 boys, Calum Alcorn, Jack Graham and Henry Cugley, who gave us a rocking rendition of Cream's 'Sunshine of Your Love' on acoustic and electric guitars, accompanied by concert organiser Mr Kilday on guitar and vocal.

Katrina Wylie from S6 gave us two performances. In the first half she gave a moving performance of Bonnie Raitt's 'I Can't Make You Love Me' and later performed a duet with Ella Keating singing Dusty Springfield's 'Son Of A Preacher Man' and The Dixie Chicks' 'Long Time Gone'. The first half also saw acoustic versions of Train's 'Hey, Soul Sister' and Bob Dylan's 'Blowing In The Wind' by Beulah Sinclair from S1 and Kaitlin McLachlan and Amy Stockton from S2. Katherine McPhie from S3 sang 'The Greatest Love' and Kirsten Bruce, also S3, belted out The Goo Goo Dolls' 'Iris'.

Giles Calder from S6, sang and played Dylan's 'Knocking On Heaven's Door'. Teaching staff also featured with Business Management teacher Mrs McElhill, accompanied by Head of Modern Languages Mr Greig on the piano, singing Adele's 'Someone Like You' and Caro Emerald's jazzy 'That Man'. It was given extra pizzazz with Elliot Howie from S5 on double bass. Miss Clarke from Modern Languages gave us a heart-wrenching rendition of Paul Weller's 'You Do Something to Me' and in the second half a version of Emeli Sand�'s 'Next To Me' also accompanied by Mr Greig on piano.

Mr Kilday was joined by Mr MacDonald on piano for their version of Bill Withers' 'Grandma's Hands'.

Ella Keating gave a magical performance of Vanessa Carlton's 'A Thousand Miles' and Kirsten and Katherine did Christina Perri's 'Jar Of Hearts'. Richard Graham sang 'I'll Be' by Edwin McCain and 'You Make It Real' by James Morrison.

Lisa Tomlinson and Kitty Cugley, gave a rousing vocal performance of The Everly Brothers' 'Dream' and The Beatles' 'Here Comes The Sun'. Katie Holborn from S2 was up next, singing Paulo Nutini's 'Rewind', followed by Sally Ram singing Irish folk ballad 'Fields of Athenry'.

Finally the S2 girls returned to the stage to close the outstanding show with Dusty Springfield's 'I Only Wanna Be With You', The Beatles' 'Let It Be' and Supertramp's 'It's Raining Again'.
