THERE is little change to Helensburgh and Lomond's political structure following the election results - but Councillor Danny Kelly's loss in the Lomond North ward will send shockwaves through the community. Councillor Kelly has been a long-serving member of the authority, representing Rosneath, Clynder and Kilcreggan before the seat was consumed by the Lomond ward following reorganisation.

The veteran councillor and former butcher is recovering following recent surgery for an aneurysm. He was ousted after Independent Robert McIntyre and Conservative Maurice Corry joined Independent George Freeman.

Provost Billy Petrie, who was also a stalwart of the ward did not stand for re-election, retiring after a 45 year career in public service.

Voter turnout in the ward at 47.4 per cent - the highest across Helensburgh and Lomond.

In Helensburgh Central, Independent Councillor Vivien Dance held her seat as did Conservative Gary Mulvanney and the SNP's James Robb, with Lib Dem Aileen Morton the newcomer on the political landscape. Voter turnout for the area sits at 44.5 per cent.

In Helensburgh and Lomond South, the SNP's Richard Trail secured a seat, while the Conservatives' David Kinniburgh and Lib Dem Ellen Morton held theirs.

Lib Dem Andew Nesbit lost out.

Turnout for the electorate in the Helensburgh and Lomond South ward was 43.4 per cent, the lowest of the three wards in Helensburgh and Lomond.
