Closures on East Princes Street between Maitland Street and Sinclair Street as well as Sinclair Street between West/East King Street and West/East Princes Street are now in effect.
On east Princes Street, tar is being planed, excavation of pavements and parking bays has commenced, the railway entrance pend is complete, and the railway exit pend setts have been excavated and are being relayed.
Kerbing has also started along the north side of the street with drainage and gulleys being placed.
Access to the Sinclair Street car park and to Helensburgh Central Station will be maintained, the latter using the Maitland entrance, in front of the taxi rank.
Traffic is being diverted along West Princes Street, and buses will also use this route with a stop outside the former post office site and Humbles Cafe but pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
The next phase of the works will increase the width of the footpaths and reduce road width for traffic – with the aim of slowing down vehicles for safety.
It is thought the new roads will restrict heavy goods vehicles heading down Sinclair Street.
