The supermarket giant revealed earlier this month that it will close 43 of its stores.
The company has now revealed which stores are to go and the future of its Helensburgh stores – a Tesco Metro in the town’s Sinclair Street and a Tesco Express outlet at the Esso station in East Clyde Street – are safe.
Tesco had plans to open almost 50 new larger stores, including three in Scotland, but the plans have now been pulled.
The company have also revealed that it will close its final salary pension scheme as it attempts to make cuts of £250m and reduce its costs.
Tesco’s CEO Dave Lewis said in a statement on Wednesday (yesterday): “The decision to close the stores has been exceptionally difficult to take.
“I recognise it will affect many hard working colleagues, our customers and local communities.
“Our priority is to explain what this announcement means for our colleagues and wherever possible, offer them alternative roles with Tesco.”
