Angus Butt, who is in S4, at Hermitage Academy was successful in his audition to join this year’s NYOS Symphony Orchestra.

He is also a member of the NYOS Senior Orchestra, which is the flagship orchestra of NYOS.

Founded in 1979, the NYOS is a symphony orchestra for musicians aged 25 and under.

At just 15, Angus is the youngest brass player on the tour and second youngest overall.

This year the Orchestra will perform in the City Halls, Glasgow and Caird Hall, Dundee as part of the spring concert programme.

This coming summer the orchestra will Tour China performing in Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin on August 1, 5 and 6 respectively.

As part of this, Angus will be performing works by Rachmaninov, R. Strauss, Shostakovich and a World Premiere of John McLeod’s Piano Concerto.

Pamela Frew, principal teacher of music at Hermitage Academy said: “We are all very proud of Angus.

“We wish him all the best for this wonderful experience.”
