The Argyll Bar will be reopening next week, six months after it shut its doors.

As previously reported in the Advertiser, the pub on East Clyde Street shut up shop in June.

Now, new owners will hope to bring life back to the bar, and are planning on opening by next weekend.

Couple Stuart Izatt, 34, and Emma Campbell, 27, hope to have the bar up and running by December 17.

Stuart spoke to the Advertiser about the new venture - with the pair both having a background working in bars.

Stuart said: "It's very daunting, but I've working in bars for 17 years, helping to run them for more than 10.

"This opportunity came up and now we are running it for ourselves.

"It's been a bit of a rush, but it's starting to slow down a bit now - next week will be busy getting everything ready."

He said the pair would be doing a lot of work themselves, but also hoped to employ four staff to help with the running of the bar.

He added: "We are keeping it as a local kind of bar.

"We are not going down the route of changing it into a night club or something."

The pub will be open over the festive season, and Stuart said they hope to offer quiz nights, poker nights, and open mic nights in the future.

He added: "We'd like to thank the local community who have got on board with it and shown their support so far.

"There has been a phenomenal response and we are left more optimistic about it."
