A CARDROSS women was bombarded with texts and e-mails after she ended her relationship with her boyfriend.

The victim was sent 89 e-mails and texts by Gary Devine, who appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last Thursday.

Devine, 26, of Cambridge Crescent, Airdrie, admitted placing his former girlfriend in a state of fear and alarm in Mitchell Drive, Cardross, between July 26 2015 and September 1 2015.

Sentence was deferred from a previous hearing.

Emma Thomson, the fiscal depute, told the court that the accused sent text messages and made phone calls in an attempt to win her back.

The court was also told how flowers were left outside the woman's home- on top of her car.

It became so prolific the victim was forced to block the telephone calls coming into her phone, then change her telephone number.

The court was also told how flowers were left on the victim's car bonnet in another attempt to win her back.

However, the victim was "frightened" over the prospect that Devine could have been outside her home while she was asleep.

She continued to receive messages and in total 89 e-mails and texts were sent.

Devine's defence agent said he was in a previous relationship and on the rebound when the offences began.

He also stressed that the flowers left on the victim's bonnet were not delivered personally.

He added: "It was an attempt to try to resurrect a relationship but he could not take the hint."

Sheriff Maxwell Hendry sentenced Devine to a 12-month Community Payback Order, which required him to be supervised for a year and carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the community within the next six months.
