POLICE in Helensburgh are appealing for the public’s help in tracking down those responsible for graffiti supporting a convicted rapist from the area.
Some of the graffiti – which was sprayed on walls across the town between October and December – expressed support for Ben Slee, who was convicted in September of a catalogue of sexual, physical and emotional abuse against four women in Helensburgh, Garelochhead, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Slee was remanded in custody after being found guilty of 29 domestic abuse charges, including rape and intent to rape, at the High Court in Glasgow.
He is still awaiting sentence after a court hearing on December 23 was told that a report assessing the risk he poses to women had been delayed.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police continue to investigate the matters, which we believe are linked, and appeal to the community to contact us on 101 with any information, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
