A SIGN posted in Luss has advised visitors that the public toilets at the Loch Lomondside village will be closed for two weeks - but doesn't mention the long trek people will face to find the nearest alternative public loos.
The poster helpfully lists the restrooms in Balloch and Tarbet as alternatives - but it doesn't say both are the best part of nine miles away.
For any unsuspecting hikers caught short, a rather unpleasant fate might be waiting for them if they try to hold out for the next available public facilities on the lochside stretch of road.
The sign was posted by Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park to warn visitors that the toilets will be out of use from February 27 to March 11.
A park spokesman said: “We are investing in the upgrade of Luss public toilets to improve the experience for visitors, which requires them to be closed for a short period.
“Signs were put up to give as much notice as possible.
“Those signs refer to the nearest public toilets, however arrangements are also being made with local businesses to allow members of the public to use their facilities while the public toilets are closed.
“The signs will be updated to let people know which businesses have offered to help.”
