TOTS got down to business at the opening of Kanga-Rhu Preschool’s new premises recently.

David Dickens, Captain of HMS Neptune, the shore-based establishment at HM Naval Base Clyde, was invited to cut the ribbon at the official opening ceremony.

Initially set up as mother and toddler group more than 40 years ago, the facility has now moved from the Community Centre in Rhu to a smart new venue in the village.

Manager, Anne King said: “The new premises have given the preschool a totally new lease of life and we are now able to extend our support to families in the wider community of Rhu and surrounding areas, in addition to families of service personnel.

“Our aim of providing a stable environment in which we can deliver quality preschool education has at last been met due to the support of Captain Dickens and HM Naval Base Clyde."

Captain Dickens was only too happy to be entertained by the children at the official opening, and proved extremely popular with his young audience.

He said: “This is just a super facility which has made a real difference and there is now much more room for fun and games, which I’m sure families will be queuing up for.”
