RESIDENTS of a quiet Helensburgh cul-de-sac are still furious at Argyll and Bute Council after work began on a car park near their homes.
People living in Redgauntlet Road say they have been suffering from noise pollution and exhaust emissions since lorries and diggers moved in last week to start work on a car park at the nearby clubhouse used by Helensburgh Amateur Athletics Club.
As previously reported in the Advertiser, the street’s residents say the local authority has ignored their concerns over the ownership of part of the land being used for the construction of the car park.
Residents John Scullion and Sharon Rice have both complained about the impact on their homes of security lights at the site, while Mr Scullion also complained that a lorry had been left with its engine idling in the street, emitting exhaust fumes, for 40 minutes while grit was unloaded.
A council spokesman said: “We have received one complaint about lighting and it is currently being considered.”
