ORGANISATIONS in Helensburgh helped to create a record breaking display at the town's annual Christmas tree festival.

The event, at the United Reformed Church, saw 43 trees on display – the most ever – all of which were decorated by individual organisations within the local area.

Many of the organisations who decorated a tree have stopped by to admire their creation amongst others and provide some entertainment. On the final day of the festival pupils from Cardross Primary stopped by to admire all the trees.

Members of the public have been stopping in to admire the work of the various organisations taking part and to donate some money which will go towards the chosen charities for the Church.

Thanks to the talent of those who sponsored a tree, and the generosity of those who visited, the church will be able to donate £1,000 to each of the charities, the local branch of Alzheimer Scotland and the Oxfam Asian Flood Appeal.

Stephen Alexander, church secretary, told the Advertiser: “We were once again very pleased with the success of this year's festival.

“We thank all those who have taken part by sponsoring a tree, providing the entertainment and of course those coming along and donating so generously.”
