FOUR hotels from the Loch Lomond and Rosneath Peninsula area have shared no fewer than 13 regional accolades in the 2018 Scottish Hotel Awards.

The Loch Lomond Arms Hotel in Luss and Cameron House Hotel shared six prizes apiece, while the Lodge on Loch Lomond won two.

The Knockderry Country House Hotel in Cove scooped three awards, while the three Loch Lomond hotels also carried off eight individual and one team prize between them in the awards’ ‘people of excellence’ category.

The prizes won by the Loch Lomond Arms were for best inn, boutique hotel, conference hotel, country sports hotel, informal dining, and small country hotel.

Cameron House, meanwhile, was announced as winner in the events, family, golf, hotel bar, spa and wedding categories.

Knockderry picked up the prizes for best fine dining hotel, best breakfast hotel and best ‘pet friendly’ hotel.

Their three individual winners were duty/operations manager Louise Brodie, spa therapist Amie Nimmo, and food and beverage individual winner Laurent Warnault.

The local picture was completed by the Lodge on Loch Lomond, whose wedding organising team took the ‘best wedding team’ award, while the hotel also won the ‘hotel lodges of the year’ prize for Argyll and Lomond.

Sandra Cunningham, sales manager at the Lodge on Loch Lomond, said: “Our dedicated wedding team  who work closely with our Brides to deliver that perfect day were honoured to receive the Wedding Team of the Year 2018 for Argyll and Lomond.

“We now move forward to the national Scottish Hotel Awards in April and look forward to working towards our goals and objectives and hopefully further recognition.”

Andy Roger, Cameron House resort director, commented: “We welcome these awards and the recognition they bring. These accolades are a result of the hard work, high service levels and dedication of the team.”

The nomination process closed before the devastating fire at Cameron House last month which claimed the lives of two guests, while the awards were presented before news of potential job losses at Cameron House in the wake of the fire came to light.

The awards for the Argyll and Lomond, Glasgow and Clyde, and south-west Scotland regions were presented at a ceremony in the Blythswood Square Hotel and Spa in Glasgow city centre last week.

All the regional winners now go forward as finalists in the national Scottish Hotel Awards, which take place in April.

They will compete for the top prizes against the winners from two other regions – Highlands, Islands and North-East, and Central and Fife, Edinburgh and the Lothians.
