THE framework for providing health and social care services in Argyll and Bute has been changed to provide additional support to unpaid and family carers.
The Argyll and Bute health and social care partnership (HSCP) has published a revised ‘scheme of integration’ to take account of changes required under the Carers Act (Scotland) 2016, which comes into effect on April 1.
The new Act requires HSCPs to provide additional support to unpaid and family carers, both adult and young carers, so that they may continue in their caring role for as long as they wish.
The partnership’s updated integration scheme has been published in draft form online at www.bit.do/abintegrationscheme, and the HSCP is seeking views and comments on the revisions.
Any comments can be emailed to nhs.abhscp@nhs.net by March 2, or write to Stephen Whiston, head of strategic planning and performance, at Argyll and Bute HSCP, Aros, Lochgilphead, PA31 8LB.
Health and social care services previously provided by NHS Highland, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Argyll and Bute Council were integrated in 2016.
