CUBS and leaders from the 1st Rhu Pack paid a visit to Waitrose in Helensburgh recently to be presented with a donation from the store’s Community Matters Scheme.

The pack – one of the three local charities included in the scheme in December – were presented with a cheque for £200 on their visit.

As well as collecting the money, which will go towards purchasing a new tent, the children were given a tour of the store and even allowed a shot in the storage freezer.

Barbara Humphries, Cub Scout leader, said: “Many thanks to all the customers who put their tokens in our box, and many thanks to Waitrose. The money will go towards a new tent.

“After the cheque presentation, the children were treated to a tour of the store, and they all especially enjoyed being allowed into the huge storage freezer.”

The 1st Rhu Scout Group has a Beaver Colony, a Cub Pack and a Scout Troop and offers everyday adventure to boys and girls.

As well as children they group are also looking for new adults to join the pack.
