Lomond School in Helensburgh hosted their annual primary-age hockey festival in the town recently, with 10 schools travelling from all over Scotland for the event.

All teams played 4 matches throughout the afternoon and were rewarded with extra points for goals.

This gave each team the incentive to score goals and George Watson’s proved themselves to be strong in this area winning their section with 32 points.

Meanwhile in section one, Lomond drew against Glasgow Academy 0-0, St.Aloysius’ College 0-0 and St.Columba’s 1-1 with Orla Grant scoring Lomond’s only goal of the tournament.

Lomond lost to the High School of Glasgow 1-0, but the Transitus players worked very hard through the event.

Credit must go to the captains, Jenna Gallacher, Zoe McEwan, Lucy Forrester and Pippa Swigciski, who were the stalwarts of the team with both Sophie Bell and Katie Hogg making crutial saves in goals.

Lucy Hamilton worked very hard in the first match and the team never gave up trying to score in each game.

St Columba’s won the section with 17 points.

Sports leaders Cameron Kemp and Mark Sullivan ran the tournament very efficiently with T1 pupils Olivia Ingle, Olivia Macartney and Clemy Perratt all helping in the organising of the event.
