A HELENSBURGH mum has hosted a casino night to raise money for a charitable trust in memory of her husband.

Kelly Andrews raised an incredible £1,000 for the Gary Andrews Remember a Life Trust at the event in the Commodore Hotel.

She told the Advertiser: “I would like to thank everyone who sponsored us and everyone who came along on the night. The support really means a lot and hopefully means we can make a difference.

“We are truly blessed to be supported and the generosity by our community.”

Guests on the night enjoyed playing a range of casino classics including blackjack, roulette and poker and then went on to dance at the disco afterwards.

Kelly set up the organisation in March to improve the lives of residents living with lung cancer or other diseases.

She previously told the Advertiser: “The money is to support people and help them make end of life memories or to make life easier.

“When Gary was ill I would have been quite happy to not have to worry about shopping or any of that.”

Gary, from Garelochhead, died from lung cancer while on holiday in Salou with his family in 2013.

Kelly, who is still collecting funds and donations added: “If anyone couldn’t make it along they can still contribute by popping into Humbles.”
