THE leader of Argyll and Bute Council has pledged to continue working with the Scottish Parliament on the area’s behalf despite the recent cabinet reshuffle.

Aileen Morton had published her report for last week’s full council meeting before the announcement that Humza Yousaf and Angela Constance had moved to new positions within the Holyrood Government.

Both MSPs had been in talks with Ms Morton in their roles at transport and communities, social security and equalities respectively.

Mr Yousaf is now justice minister, while Ms Constance has returned to the back benches.

But Ms Morton has already sought a meeting with new transport minister Michael Matheson, and plans to do likewise with new energy, connectivity and the islands minister Paul Wheelhouse.

She told last week’s full council meeting: “It is not totally clear what impact [the reshuffle] will have on the work.

“I did write to Michael Matheson asking if we could set a date for a meeting with the working group as soon as possible. Hopefully this is now moving forward. I will also pick this up with Paul Wheelhouse.”
