RESIDENTS at Newark Care Home are enjoying bus trips away after family, friends, staff and the public generously donated at the summer fete.

Activities co-ordinator Margaret McClure organised the event for the tenth year in a row in a bid to raise as much money as she could to benefit the residents.

Family, friends and members of the public packed into the care home to enjoy games, a vintage vehicles display, tombola, raffle, beat the goalie contest and sponge throwing.

There was a wide range of stalls for everyone to browse and many of the residents enjoyed a dance before tucking into some tasty food.

The final total raised was £630 and Margaret was delighted.

She said: “We managed to get the best of the weather and it was really busy, everyone seemed to have great fun.

“The residents enjoyed it too, many of them were up dancing.

“Everyone played their part - one of the most popular things was throwing sponges at the poor managers and everyone loved looking at the old cars and motorbikes brought along.”

Margaret added: “We would like to thank all the local shops in Dubbs Road for their donations, everyone else who donated, those who came along to support the event on the day, the staff for being such good sports and Elaine McDade, activities co-ordinator, and depute manager Francis Jerum.”
