HELENSBURGH Community Council is looking for 3D drawings to be submitted for a planning application for two dwelling houses in the town.

The group is backing proposals for the properties to replace a former barn on land east of Camis Eskan Farm.

But the community council (HCC) has called for 3D drawings to be a part of this and other applications in the future, and has asked Argyll and Bute Council to make them a part of the planning process.

HCC member Nigel Millar said: “While the drawings submitted with the application are satisfactory a 3D drawing would better have highlighted the design of the two homes and how they would sit on the site and within the surrounding landscape.

“Although not a strict planning requirement such easily produced drawings would much better inform local residents and HCC in responding to the design aspects of planning applications of this nature.

“HCC urges Argyll and Bute Council planning to promote the production of such drawings in their pre-application discussions with potential applicants.

“They should no longer hide behind the rule book in asking for the minimum required. Good modern design requires more than that.”
