HELENSBURGH Community Council continued its summer programme of monthly beach cleans on Saturday.

Despite the ever-present threat of some distinctly un-summery weather, members of the community council were joined by volunteers from around the town and by members of the Helensburgh and Lomond Youth Forum, who lent a hand as part of their summer holiday ‘GIVE’ volunteering programme.

Community council convener Norman Muir said afterwards: “We were greatly assisted by volunteers from the community and sterling support from the youth forum.

“There was a lot of hard work and a sense of a job well done at the end of the session.

“We remain indebted to David Howie of Drumfork Farm for his continued assistance and a special word of mention to the Argyll and Bute Council staff at the Blackhill Depot for their much appreciated and invaluable support.”

The community council’s summer programme of beach cleans, taking place on the last Saturday of each month, continues on August 25.
