A PORT Glasgow teenager is taking the world of Irish Dancing by storm.

Ainslee McDade started dancing when she was three and attended the Maureen Onesti Academy of Irish Dance.

By the age of four Ainslee was competing and she has participated in the All Scotland Championships, All Ireland Championships and the World Championships.

Ainslee, 19, said: “I love Irish Dancing, going to class and learning my steps.

"It’s great fun because I have so many dancing friends.”

Ainslee’s most recent achievement was taking fourth at the All Ireland Championships.

Her dance teacher Maureen was delighted with the result.

She said: “This result was fantastic for Ainslee and she represented our Academy in one of the most prestigious championship's in the Irish dancing calender.

“I’m so proud of Ainslee as are the other dancers within our Academy.

"It's great that the other dancers can look up to her as she works so hard and is so dedicated as well as being so well liked by all within the Irish Dance circuit worldwide.”

Ainslee said: “Getting fourth at the All Ireland competition was amazing.

"I danced with dancers from all over the world.

“Maureen has been so supportive to me throughout all my dancing years. She has encouraged me along the way both in my dancing and now that I’m a registered trainee teacher within the Academy.

“We have an amazing relationship and have the same vision for the future of the Academy.”

Maureen is delighted to have Ainslee onboard lending a hand and teaching alongside her.

She said: “She is going to make a fab teacher as she has a flair for making up amazing dance choreography as well as having a great way with the dancers.”

As well as being supported throughout her dancing career by Maureen, Ainslee said she couldn’t have achieved all she has without the support of her family.

She added: “My whole family have supported me all my dancing years, especially my mum and dad and my auntie Liz who comes to all classes with me, they all support me so much.”

Ainslee is now working hard ahead of her next few competitions, the British Open in London, which is a qualifier for the World Championships and the World Championships.

Classes at the Maureen Onesti Academy of Irish Dance are suitable for everyone aged three and older.

Maureen said: “It’s a great way of keeping fit as well as having lots of fun and dancers can chose to compete if they so choose.”
