GIN lovers from Helensburgh and all over Scotland flocked to the Victoria Halls on Saturday for the town's first GinFall festival.

Confirming that gin today is about much, much more than the traditional G&T, no fewer than 19 premium gin distillers from across the country – many of them bringing several different varieties to the event – did a roaring trade throughout the festival, as did sellers of cup cakes and Mexican street food, while live musical entertainment got, and kept, the crowd on their feet.

John McIver, from the event's organisers, said: "The GinFall gin festival at Victoria Hall last Saturday exceeded our expectations and was one of the best GinFall events of the year.

"To our delight, gin-lovers in the Helensburgh area came out in force to support this local event and immerse themselves in a world of quality gin.

"Everyone loved sampling the massive range of gins on display, and some gins even decided to launch their new products at the event, such as Darnley`s Gin, who launched their Very Berry Gin on Saturday at GinFall.

"Our special music guest, Jamie Mac, had the crowd literally up on their feet with some Rat Pack and Michel Buble classics in the upstairs room -which we had transformed into a premium gin cocktail bar.

"Two lucky ladies also won 10 bottles of premium gin each in our big gin raffle prize draw, and all the other stalls on the day, including Cup Cakes by Lillian and lovely food from the Might Mexican street food stall, went down a storm.

"We are delighted at the response and plan to make GinFall Gin Festival an annual event in Helensburgh.

"Last but not least, a big thank you to Graham Craig and his team at the Victoria Halls, who were fantastic."
