A FANTASTIC fete at Belleaire House Care home in Greenock saw around 50 guests turn out to enjoy an afternoon of fun.

Manager David Howie says a great 'team effort' saw guests tuck into tasty home-baking, try their luck at the bottle stall, browse bric a brac bargains and enjoy catching up.

There was also plenty to keep the children entertained including cake and candy, a beat the goalie contest and tombola.

David told the Tele: “There is always a good turnout for our fete and everyone really seems to enjoy it but my highlight is seeing everyone interact and enjoy themselves.”

Activities co-ordinator Maggie McElwee was delighted with how it all went.

She said: "We started planning a few months in advance and it was great to see it all come together on the day, it went well and it was a nice sunny day.

"I would like to thank all the staff for their hard work, especially senior carer Mary Buchan who works in her own time to help, she's just fantastic.

"We also want to thank Watson’s Craft Butchers, who reduced the cost of their burgers to help with the fete.

"The burgers were amazing and everyone was so complimentary about them, we can't thank them enough."

The event raised more than £600, with money still coming in.

The cash will be put into a fund to benefit the residents throughout the year.

Money from the fund has been used to organise a pantomime at Christmas and to buy residents ice-cream during the warm weather.

Maggie said: "We fundraise throughout the year to be able to give the residents a little extra and they all really appreciate it.

"The money is used to benefit the residents and boost morale."
