HELENSBURGH motorcyclist Adam Lyon died after “barrel rolling” into a fence during the Isle of Man TT races, an inquest has been told.

The 26-year-old was travelling at about 140mph when he struck a kerb in a Supersport 600cc race on June 4.

Douglas courthouse heard the talented road racer, who was competing in the TT races for the first time, suffered fatal injuries when he was thrown from his bike, which “exploded on impact” in the crash at Casey’s Corner.

Isle of Man coroner John Needham, recording a verdict of death by misadventure at Wednesday’s hearing, offered his condolences to Adam’s family and said the tragedy highlighted the “inherent risks of road racing”.
