THE Helensburgh Child Contact Centre held its annual coffee morning fundraiser at the weekend.

Guests were treated to a delicious selection of cakes and sweet treats, while organisers were delighted with the turnout and total money raised, which stood at an estimated £500.

The event, held in the Parish Church halls in Colquhoun Square on Saturday, October 6, generated much-needed funds for the small charity which works to bring together parents and children who have been separated.

Organiser Margaret McArthur said: “The hall was full and every table was taken, so it will boost our funds quite nicely.

“We have to generate all of our own funds, so events like this are necessary to keep us going.”

The centre was set up in 2007 and aims to reduce the emotional distress felt by children by enabling them to meet the parent who does not live with them in a safe and neutral environment.

The group receives regular referrals and volunteers focus their efforts on the needs of each child.
