THERE’S an old Scottish prayer which begs for help from the Good Lord to deliver us from “ghoulies, and ghosties, and long-leggedy beasties, and things that go bump in the night” – but there’s been no escaping all sorts of terrifying creatures in Helensburgh over the last week or so as the Hallowe’en season gets into full swing.

From parties for school pupils and grown-ups to the traditional ‘guising’ around the houses on Wednesday night, there’s been no shortage of fancy dress fun and games to be had from the season in and around the town.

The pictures featured here come from Hallowe’en parties at Cardross Primary School and the Helensburgh and Lomond Grey Matters group – the latter held on Saturday with the help of the Helensburgh and Lomond Youth Forum – and from an appeal on Facebook asking readers to send in their pictures of children dressed up for school parties.

We’ll be publishing more pictures from Helensburgh’s Hallowe’en on the Advertiser website in the next few days, and we’re hoping to feature more photos in next week’s print edition – but in the meantime a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who contributed this week. As the old saying goes, we couldn’t have done it without you!
