THE Stand Up to Cancer campaign in Helensburgh received another boost recently with a fund-raising event at a therapy clinic.

The Lomond Clinic, based on West Clyde Street, organised the special day on Monday, October 29 to offer treatments to clients and donate all money raised to Cancer Research UK’s (CRUK) Helensburgh branch.

Alison Sturgeon, assistant manager at the CRUK shop, said she and her team were indebted to the organisers for the wonderful gesture.

She said: “It’s just these three ladies that come in and organise the whole day themselves and they’ve been doing this for several years now.

“They managed to raise £630, which is amazing just in one day from three ladies.

“They know that we really push it. They could donate to any charity but they know the efforts we put in. It’s just such a wonderful thing and we are very grateful to them.”

Sandi Shaw, from the Lomond Clinic, added: “We had two therapists who donated their full day’s wages and a raffle as well, so we were delighted with the money raised.

“We have a lot of patients with cancer and it has touched so many now, it’s such a big nasty disease.

“It’s our local shop as well, so we will absolutely do it again next year.”

The CRUK team thanked the Lomond Clinic for their continued support. You can keep up-to-date with more events on their Facebook page @HburghSU2C.
