ROYAL Navy personnel and their families gathered in Helensburgh's Colquhoun Square on Saturday for a special service of remembrance.
Much less formal, but no less moving, than the Remembrance Sunday commemorations which would take place at the nearby Hermitage Park war memorial the following day, the service was led by members of the chaplaincy team at HM Naval Base Clyde.
The gathering also included members of the Helensburgh detachment of the Sea Cadets, local children, and Helensburgh residents to pay their respects.
Wreaths were laid and, as a bugler sounded the last post, silence descended on Colquhoun Square as participants took a moment to ponder the tremendous sacrifice of those who had perished in both world wars and in other conflicts around the globe.
